Precautions

Before making your recipes, don't forget to thoroughly disinfect your equipment (with alcohol at 70°C or boiling water) to avoid any contamination.

We recommend that you select organic ingredients wherever possible, as well as cold-pressed virgin oils. In fact, the more “raw” your ingredient is, the more it will retain its virtues and its effectiveness!

Finally, store your recipes in an airtight container, in a dry place and away from light. As they mainly contain oils, they can be stored for several months (apart from oat milk which must be used immediately, and Skin Mousse which can be stored in the fridge for a few weeks).

However, if your preparation changes odor or color, stop using it immediately.

1) The cocktail of oils before the shower

Oils form a protective barrier on the skin. By applying a mixture of nourishing and protective oils before showering or bathing, you avoid the stripping and drying effect of certain shower gels and other soaps. Indeed, due to the surfactants they contain, they could damage the natural protective film of the skin, which can lead to the development of eczema. Additionally, if you live in an area with hard water, it may also dry out your skin.

In this recipe, we recommend coconut oil which is a recognized ingredient against eczema (antiseptic, easily penetrates the skin), Neem oil (antibacterial and anti-inflammatory) and olive oil ( nourishing and protective)

Recipe

Ingredients :

  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons of Neem Oil

Preparation :

Mix the oils in a bowl, stirring with a spoon. And that's all !

Usage tips

Before showering or bathing, spread the mixture over your eczema areas, and/or all over your body if you have atopic-prone skin. Massage to make the oils penetrate well.

Result

Protected during the shower or bath, your skin is nourished, hydrated, softer and less prone to eczema attacks!

If you really don't have time to prepare this cocktail of oils, you can use our magic spray to substitute it!

2) Oats in the bath

5 recipes to combat eczema - Olie Neela

Oat milk is an important ally in fighting eczema and treating atopic dermatitis. It is protective, anti-inflammatory, soothing and restores the skin's hydrolipidic film thanks to its vitamin, carbohydrate and mineral content. It is also often recommended for the daily cleansing of newborns. In addition, by using it in the bath, it will reduce the drying effect of hard water.

Recipe

Ingredients : A cup of oatmeal.

Preparation : Put the oatmeal in a bag / cloth / washcloth or sock that you close (for example with a string).

Then leave to infuse in the bathtub while the bath water runs. This will gradually become “milky”.

It is also possible to prepare your oat milk in advance, by pouring 250g of oat flakes into 1L of hot water (leave 5 to 10 minutes over medium heat). Don't forget to filter before pouring it into your bath.

Finally, there is also oatmeal in powder form that you can pour directly into the bath.

Usage tips

Take your bath, take the opportunity to relax and soothe yourself. Be careful that the water temperature is not too hot (ideally 37°C), as high heat can make eczema worse.

After about ten minutes, rinse.

Result

Your skin will be softened and hydrated. The itching will quickly be soothed! Oats-eczema: 1-0.

4) Skin Mousse

Skin Mousse is a mixture of Aloe Vera gel and vegetable oils. It differs from balm by its lighter side, in the form of “mayonnaise”. It will be ideal to apply to the face, or in summer, for a fluid and fresh treatment to use all over the body.

Aloe Vera has been used for centuries, even millennia, for its moisturizing, soothing and healing properties. It will be combined with hemp oil which soothes and nourishes without greasing, and Neem oil which is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial.

Recipe

Ingredients and materials:

  • 1 tablespoon of hemp oil
  • 2 tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel
  • 2 teaspoons of Neem oil
  • 1 bowl, 1 whisk

Preparation :

Mix the different ingredients in a bowl. Then whisk vigorously until you obtain a texture close to that of mayonnaise.

Bonus: if you want to keep your Skin Mousse for several weeks (one to two months maximum because Aloe Vera gel is rich in water, which promotes the development of microbes), you can add 8 drops of vitamin E (natural preservative sold in organic stores).

However, if you do, it should not be used near the eyes, as vitamin E can be an eye irritant.

Usage tips

Apply daily to the areas you want (face, legs, back, hands, etc.) and at any time of the day! Storing it in the fridge will add to the freshness!

Result

The lesions caused by eczema will heal over time, the skin will be soothed and hydrated without feeling "oily".

5) Honey ointment

Honey is a great ingredient for relieving eczema! It is healing, regenerating and soothing. We recommend lavender honey which concentrates these properties, or better, Manuka honey which is a powerful antiseptic, healing and antioxidant, but whose price is significant.

In this recipe we will mix honey with beeswax (anti-inflammatory, protective) and coconut oil (antiseptic, nourishing) to obtain an ointment.

Recipe

Ingredients and materials:

  • 2 level tablespoons of grated beeswax or pastilles
  • 5 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 glass jar, 1 saucepan, 1 small wooden spatula

Preparation :

Prepare a water bath by placing the pot in a saucepan containing water. Introduce the wax and oil into the pot, then leave on the heat until the wax melts completely.

Remove from the heat, stir gently with the wooden spatula and leave to cool. Then add the honey and stir.

Place the mixture in the freezer for 10 minutes, remove and mix well again until smooth. Return to the freezer for 5 minutes, then store in a dry place away from light.

Usage tips

This ointment may seem a little sticky, but the point is really to apply it to problem areas: cracked, damaged, reddened. It is therefore not a daily treatment, however it is really effective in relieving and helping to regenerate the skin.

Apply it in a rather thick layer to the area to be treated and leave for several hours or overnight. So that the ointment does not stick to your clothes, it is advisable to apply a bandage.

Rinse as needed.

Result

The skin will be deeply soothed, relieved and regenerated!
